Vintage 70s Walk About Hiking Rucksack Backpack Daypack Leather Bottom Bag Rare. Incredible backpack that rarely becomes available. We opted not to wash it because there is a certain patina to the bag that only could come from almost 50 years of use. Overall the bag is in very good condition structurally. The material is solid but as you can see it’s got some discoloration and stains. I believe that a good washing would clean this bag up but that’s only if you want to lose the weathered look. All the leather pieces are in good shape, the interior is fairly clean, the drawstrings and straps are all intact. It appears that the belt buckle is missing but these tight belt buckles can commonly be found online at Amazon. This is a one-of-a-kind backpack with only a small handful still in existence. This thing is honestly much nicer than any vintage Kelty, Jansport, Northface, or any other bag that came later on in the late 70s or 80s. One other unique feature! The suede bottom is shaped at the lower edges in the form of a slight curve that hugged your body. There are also a few metal rods inside the backpack that help give it additional structural shape. This is a stocked item, the axe pictured isn’t the one you would receive. 18.5 Length Hickory Handle. 2 lbs Hand Forged Swedish Made Steel Axe Head. Black Smith’s Intials stamped on head. Comes with Vegetable Tanned Leather Sheath. Made and designed for Hunters. The poll is forged thinner than normal and gently rounded and burnished to a Flay Poll to be used when skinning an animal. You pull the hide with one hand at the same time you hit with the Flay Poll of the axe between the hide and the flesh; and stroke by stroke the hide comes off. Its Handle is straighter than the Small Forest Axe, and is thicker and more round towards the heads giving more control. The axe is good for chopping, in wood as well as meat. The grip of the handle has circular grooves which gives a steady grip even if your hands are wet or sticky. This axe has received, as the first and only axe in Sweden, a design award from The Swedish Society of Crafts and Design.
